Classification of SUCLAB Fume Hoods

Classification of SUCLAB Fume Hoods

2025-09-25

Classified of SUCLAB fume hoods by material:

Steel fume hood: The main material of the fume hood is all steel. It is the preferred choice for non-strong acid and strong alkali laboratories. It is fireproof and moisture-proof, elegant and generous, and has a high cost performance.

Wooden fume hood: The main material of the fume hood is all wood. It is less used in laboratories nowadays and is not fireproof.

Stainless steel fume hood: The main material of the fume hood is stainless steel, mostly made of 304, 306 or 306L materials. It is acid and alkali resistant, corrosion-resistant, easy to clean, and heat-resistant. It is the preferred choice for laboratories with strong acids and strong alkalis, but the price is relatively high.

PP fume hood of SUCLAB fume hoods : The main material of the fume hood is PP plate. PP material has excellent acid resistance. Compared with all-steel fume hoods, its superior acid and alkali resistance enables it to conduct higher-intensity acid and alkali experiments. PP fume hoods are mainly used in high-intensity acid and alkali experiments, clean rooms and other places.  .

FRP (Fiber Reinforced Plastic) Fume Hood :  It is a type of chemical fume hood constructed from fiberglass-reinforced plastic, offering excellent resistance to corrosion, moisture, and chemical exposure. It is commonly used in laboratories handling acids, solvents, and other corrosive substances.Using strongest chemical laboratory and Mine  Chemistry Laboratory .

Classify by exhaust mode of SUCLAB fume hoods:

Upper exhaust fume hood: For cold process experiments, a lower exhaust fume hood should be used.

Bottom exhaust fume hood: For experiments involving thermal processes, an upper exhaust fume hood should be used.

Upper and lower simultaneous exhaust fume hood: For experiments with unstable heat generation, exhaust vents can be set at both the top and bottom. The ratio of the upper and lower exhaust air volumes can be adjusted according to the changes in heat generation inside the hood, thereby achieving a uniform air velocity.

Classify by air intake method of SUCLAB fume hoods:

Fully exhaust fume hood: The type where the air intake from the room circulates within the cabinet and is then discharged outdoors is called a fully exhaust fume hood. This is a very widely used type.

Supply air type fume hood: When a fume hood is installed in a room with heating or temperature and humidity control requirements, to save energy consumption for heating and air conditioning, the method of taking supply air from outside, circulating it inside the hood, and then discharging it outside is called a supply air type fume hood.

Classified by structure:

Floor-standing fume hoods, two-sided fume hoods, walk-in fume hoods, desktop fume hoods, and various specialized fume hoods designed according to different experimental usage requirements.

Classify by the presence or absence of external pipelines

It can be divided into exhaust fume hoods and ductless fume hoods.

External exhaust fume hood: It directly extracts the toxic and harmful gases produced during experimental operations to the outside through an external pipeline connected to a fan.

Ductless SUCLAB fume hoods

: It directly adsorbs the toxic and harmful gases produced during experimental operations with activated carbon filters and then discharges them.
